Install and open Lyrics
- Use the Chrome or Edge button below. Store installs do not need Developer mode.
- Refresh any YouTube tabs that were already open.
- Open a song on a regular YouTube watch page. Click Lyrics in the player to turn the lyrics on.
- Use the small chevron beside Lyrics to open the settings panel.
This guide covers the controls available in both store releases. The versions checked on October 3, 2026 were 0.9.4 in Chrome and 0.9.3 in Edge. Check your store page for the current version.

Find the right recording
In Song, check the Artist and song field, then click Find. Open Choose a recording if you want to compare results. Match the artist, song and version: a studio track, live performance or remix can have different timing.
LyricLayer looks up lyrics separately from YouTube captions. A video can have no lyric captions and still have a match in a lyric provider. Availability depends on the recording; some songs have no usable result.
LRCLIB and NetEase are enabled by default. Kugou is optional. In Settings, open Lyric sources to choose providers, or use Search all enabled sources to broaden the search.
03
Fix lyrics that are early or late
If every line is off by the same amount, open Timing and adjust Lyric delay. Positive values show lyrics later; negative values show them earlier. The plus and minus buttons change it by a quarter of a second.
At the first sung line, First line starts now can set the offset for you. Use Reset delay to remove the saved offset.
If lines drift further apart as the song plays, first check that you selected the right recording. A single delay cannot fix a different tempo or arrangement. Repair line timing lets you adjust a line or section when a better matching source is unavailable.
Timing corrections are saved for that video in this browser profile.
04
Keep a compact lyric window open
Click Float in the player or Float lyrics in Song. Compact lyrics are the default. Keep the source YouTube tab open: the floating window uses that tab’s lyrics and playback.
You can drag or resize the window and use its playback controls. The address and title bar belong to the browser. Floating lyrics require a browser that supports Document Picture-in-Picture; they are available in both store releases.
05
Repeat a verse
In Timing, open Read lyrics & practice. Move to the start of the section and choose Set A here. Move to its end and choose Set B here, then Start loop.
Use Stop loop to keep playing normally, or Clear loop to remove the markers. A and B must be at least a quarter of a second apart. Practice loops belong to the current tab and are cleared when you move to another video or turn lyrics off.

When something is missing
I cannot see the Lyrics button
Check that LyricLayer is enabled and allowed to run on YouTube, then refresh the page. Use a desktop YouTube watch page. Shorts, YouTube Music, embedded players and casting are not covered by this setup guide.
No recording was found
Try a clean artist and song title without extra uploader text. Check your enabled providers and search again. A cover or unreleased song may have no matching lyrics. You can import an LRC file if you already have one.
Lyrics are still wrong after changing the delay
Compare the recording’s duration and version with the video. A cut introduction, different performance or changed arrangement can need another recording or individual timing repairs.
Float is missing or will not open
Check the extension version and browser support. Floating lyrics are included in both store releases. Keep the source tab open and use the Float button again.
For a bug report, send the video URL, browser and extension version, selected lyric source, and what is wrong with the timing.
